Fulton Programs
Athletics
The Fulton School offers a wide variety of competitive sports including, 6-man football, basketball, track and field, sailing, tennis and golf. These activities help each student develop a positive self-image, expand motor skills, and teaches sportsmanship and team skills. The Fulton School competes with other private schools in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Community Service
The Fulton School teaches its students that service to others is the highest human calling. Through community service activities, students develop their own personal commitment to assisting others and become participating citizens of their community. Each High School student is required to complete a minimum of 48 community service hours in order to graduate.
Extracurricular Activities
Students at Fulton are encouraged to be involved in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities that include drama, chess, journalism, athletics, pep squad, community service, peer leadership and student council.
Field Trips
Students in all grades receive the reinforcement of classroom education through field trips that are enjoyed throughout the year. These off campus activities serve to enhance each child’s knowledge and understanding through experiential, hands-on learning experiences. Middle and Upper School students have the opportunity for travel that is designed to enrich and extend the learning provided in classroom settings.
Testing
Students take the Stanford Achievement Test and the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) each year to monitor each child’s academic progress and learning capabilities. Tests are graded by comparing scores with other students taking identical tests across the country. This shows how well Fulton students are learning in various subject areas as compared with other students their age across the country.
These tests also monitor the students’ ability to learn (IQ). Tests show that the overall aptitude of Fulton Students exceeds the average U.S. student by as much as 40% in grades K-5 and 48% in grades 6-8. In their subject knowledge, children in grades K-5 test an average of two years above grade level and grades 6-8 average post-high school levels.
